We’re not really fans of soy and here’s why!

Brings your hormones out of balance

As more people develop lactose sensitivity, it is often replaced by soy. Fermented soy, such as miso and tempeh, is certainly healthy to eat occasionally. However, processed soy is an allergen for many people. Especially soy milk, tofu, yogurt, and soy sauce are very popular. These are non-fermented soy products.I don’t really recommend non-fermented soy products. Occasionally is fine, but too many soy products have a phytoestrogenic effect. This means they can mimic the hormone estrogen in the body, causing an imbalance in the progesterone/estrogen ratio. This imbalance can lead to fertility problems. If you have a desire to conceive, I would not recommend non-fermented soy products.

You can gain weight from it

Because it has an estrogenic effect, it stimulates female hormones (think beautiful feminine curves). So, sometimes, women may think they eat very healthily and still struggle to lose weight. It turns out that too many soy products are being consumed. Generally, we already have a considerable amount of estrogen in our bodies. If, in addition, we eat a lot of phytoestrogens, the body gets an excess of the female hormone. This can manifest as increased fat storage.

It has a negative effect on the thyroid

Soy is a goitrogenic substance that has a harmful effect on the thyroid. This works as follows: soy depletes iodine, a substance we need to keep our thyroid functioning properly. If you have a slow thyroid, definitely avoid soy! Soy-based food for babies and toddlers is also not my preference. It can affect their thyroid function even at a young age.
